Let’s be honest: the world is heavy right now.
Between navigating systemic barriers, managing the mental load of home and career, and the constant pressure to simply keep going, it’s easy to lose yourself in the shuffle. We’ve been conditioned to believe that our value is tied to our productivity. We’ve been told that rest is a reward to be earned after the work is done.
At Daughters of Both Suns, we’re here to tell you something different.
You do not have to earn rest. ✨
Healing is not a luxury; it is a necessity. It is the catalyst for community change and the foundation upon which we build our futures. That is why we are so incredibly excited to invite you to our inaugural retreat, Rooted & Restored: A Women’s Wellness Retreat.
This isn't just another conference or a checkbox on your self-care to-do list. This is a homecoming. It’s a space specifically designed for Black and Latina women to set down the heavy bags we carry and remember who we are when we aren't "doing" for everyone else.
The Invitation
Date: Saturday, October 24, 2026 Time: 8:45 AM – 4 PM Location: The Overlook at Ocean Club Resort, 1908 N Ocean Blvd, North Myrtle Beach, SC Tagline: "Rooted in Strength. Restored in Purpose."
Why We Created This Space
We don't break... we bend. But even the strongest branches need nourishment to keep from snapping.
As a nonprofit dedicated to culturally responsive, trauma-informed mental health support, we see the gaps every day. We see the way traditional wellness spaces often fail to acknowledge the lived experiences of women of color. We see the need for healing that doesn't ask you to leave your culture or your history at the door.

Rooted & Restored is our response. It’s a day to move from survival to systems of support. Whether you’ve been part of our Healing Circles or are just discovering our mission, this retreat is for you.
The Journey: Four Pillars of Healing
We’ve curated a day that speaks to the whole woman. Our retreat now moves through four connected pillars: Body, Mind, Spirit, and Recovery & Resilience, allowing you to move at your own pace while honoring the full progression of healing throughout the day.
1. The Body Track: "Context Is Everything"
Facilitated by Kerry Harling Healing starts with listening. Kerry Harling, founder of The Holistic Highway and author of The 25-Day Ayurveda Cleanse, will guide us through an exploration of integrative medicine and Ayurveda. Instead of fighting against your body, learn to understand its baseline and signals, energy, sleep, and mood, within the context of your unique life and environment.
2. The Mind Track: Navigating Transitions
We have three powerful sessions dedicated to the mental and emotional landscapes we navigate:
"Make Space: Creative Reflection for a Restored Mind" with Toni Inzauto: Sometimes, we need to clear the clutter to hear our own voices. Toni will lead us through creative art therapy and mindfulness rituals to help us reclaim our mental spaciousness.
"The Reinvention Project" with Jessica Johnson: Are you at a crossroads? This session is for the woman who senses her current story no longer fits. It’s about clarifying values and experimenting with the "next chapter" without the pressure of an all-or-nothing leap.
"Befriending the Liminal Space" with Ashley Wynn-Grimes: We often rush to escape the "in-between." Ashley teaches us how to stay present in the uncertainty, seeing it as a site of healing rather than a problem to be solved.

3. The Spiritual Track: "The Secret World of Color"
Facilitated by Rebecca Zukowski Color is more than decoration; it is energy. Rebecca will dive into color therapy, exploring how different hues influence our mood, sense of safety, and personal expression. Discover how to use the "secret world of color" to support your desired state of being, whether that’s calm, energy, or play.
4. Recovery & Resilience: Healing That Holds
Because restoration is not just about feeling good for one day. It’s about building what helps you return to yourself again and again. This pillar centers the practices, perspectives, and support systems that help us recover from burnout, navigate hard seasons, and strengthen our capacity to keep going without abandoning ourselves.
Retreat Schedule: Mind, Body, Spirit
To honor the flow of the day, the retreat is designed as a progression through Mind, Body, Spirit, opening with grounding at the beach and moving into deeper restoration together.
8:45 AM — Beach Yoga & Grounding on the Oceanfront: We begin with breath, movement, and presence by the water.
9:30 AM — Welcome & Opening Keynote:Maureen Lynne Radosti bridges all three concepts in a keynote presentation that connects mind, body, and spirit.
10:15 AM — Mind Sessions Begin: Featuring voices like Jessica Johnson, JeanMarie Mitchell, and Ruzanna Carter as we explore reflection, transition, and emotional wellness.
12:00 PM — Lunch, Connection, & Wellness Marketplace: Time to nourish, breathe, and build community.
1:00 PM — Body Sessions: Ground into embodied healing, including wellness practices and body-based restoration.
2:15 PM — Spirit Sessions: Reconnect with meaning, intuition, creativity, and inner calm.
3:15 PM — Recovery & Resilience Closing Experience: A final session featuring Rachael Mechelle Muscarello and retreat reflections that help carry the day forward beyond the event.
4:00 PM — Closing: We leave rooted, restored, and reminded that healing is something we can keep choosing.
