Community Spotlight: Thank You, Passanante's Home Food Service! 🌟

At Daughters of Both Suns, we talk a lot about "healing the legacies we carry." Usually, when we say that, we’re talking about the heavy stuff: the intergenerational trauma, the systemic barriers, and the silent burdens that Black and Latina women shoulder every single day. But healing isn't just a solitary, internal process. It’s a community effort. It’s about building a village that actually has your back when the weight gets too heavy.

Today, we are beyond grateful to spotlight a partner who understands exactly what it means to show up for the village: Passanante's Home Food Service.

We are thrilled to announce Passanante's as our official Education & Backpack Sponsor for our upcoming community initiatives, including our Back-to-School event and our highly anticipated Rooted & Restored Women's Wellness Retreat.

Moving from Survival to Systems

Let’s cut the shit: life is expensive. For many of our families in Myrtle Beach and beyond, the "back-to-school" season isn't just about fresh notebooks and new shoes; it’s a period of intense financial stress. It’s another layer of pressure on top of everything else we’re trying to manage.

When a family is worried about how they’re going to afford the basic tools their child needs for success, mental health often takes a backseat. You can’t focus on "wellness" when you’re stuck in survival mode.

By stepping up as our Education & Backpack Sponsor, Passanante's Home Food Service is helping us move our community from survival to systems of support. They are generously sponsoring clear backpacks for our local students: a practical, essential need that removes one more barrier for parents.

A Partnership Rooted in Shared Values

Why Passanante's? When we look for partners, we don't just look for names on a flyer. We look for alignment. We look for people who believe what we believe: that health is holistic, that family is the foundation, and that community is non-negotiable.

Passanante’s has been a cornerstone of quality for over a century. Since 1916, they’ve been a family-owned business dedicated to providing families with high-quality, chemical-free, farm-to-table food. They understand that what we put into our bodies: and how we care for our households: is a direct reflection of how much we value ourselves and our future.

Healing requires nourishment. You cannot pour from an empty cup, and you certainly cannot heal on an empty stomach or in a house filled with the stress of food insecurity. Passanante’s commitment to healthy, sustainable living mirrors our commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed mental health. Together, we are addressing the "whole person": ensuring that our community has both the physical and emotional resources they need to thrive.

Support That Expands Access to Care

This partnership does more than provide backpacks. It fuels the mission of Daughters of Both Suns. When corporate partners like Passanante’s invest in our vision, it allows us to expand our BridgeCare Therapy Navigation and our Sanar Therapy Fund.

It means we can continue connecting Black and Latina women with therapists who actually get it. Therapists who understand that our mental health is tied to our heritage, our struggles, and our joy. It means we can keep our Healing Circles accessible and our community education programs running.

Every backpack sponsored and every dollar invested is a declarative sentence to our community: You are worth the investment.

Join Us: The Rooted & Restored Retreat

The support from Passanante’s also carries us toward our signature event of the year: the Rooted & Restored Women’s Wellness Retreat on Saturday, October 24 in North Myrtle Beach.

If you’ve been feeling the burn of "doing it all," this is your invitation to stop. You do not have to earn rest. You do not have to wait until you are broken to seek restoration.

This retreat is a faith-informed, trauma-aware space designed specifically for you. We’ll be gathering at The Overlook at Ocean Club Resort to dive deep into "Healing the Whole Woman." Our keynote speaker, the incredible Rev. Maureen Lynne Radosti, will guide us through the integration of mind, body, and spirit.

We’ll have:

  • ✨ Beach Yoga & Guided Meditation to ground your body.

  • ✨ Workshops on Recovery & Resilience to sharpen your tools.

  • ✨ A Wellness Marketplace featuring local partners.

  • ✨ Authentic Connection with a community that sees you.

Thanks to the support of our sponsors like Passanante’s, we are able to offer scholarship tickets so that financial barriers don't stand in the way of your healing.
